GET INVOLVED

There are plenty of things to do at Hollesley Judo Club away from the actual Judo. We like to keep all the parents busy whenever possible!

We like to think that getting everyone involved in the week-to-week running of the club helps to keep our great atmosphere going. Everyone is made to feel part of the setup.

Put out the mats

It’s the least glamorous, but most important job of all. Before any Judo can take place, the mats have to be put out – more than eighty of them! This task falls to the parents of children in our under 8s Kano Club group because they are the first on.

It’s important that we have people come along about half an hour before the first Judo session starts so we have plenty of time to set everything up.

Run the Tuck Shop

Our tuck shop sells a range of value sweets and drinks to the children and we encourage parents to join the rota for running it. Funds raised from the Tuck Shop go back into the club to pay for essentials such as new mats etc.

Run the tea and coffee bar

If the tuck shop’s not your thing, how about helping out serving teas and coffees to parents while their children are on the Judo mat? It’s also a great way to catch up on the latest gossip!

Help with club-night admin

There’s a lot of paperwork involved in keeping the club running smoothly. On club nights we need people to take entries for competitions, keep track of players’ licence details, and a host of other things.

Help out at our club competitions

We’re always looking for new people to train up as timekeepers and scorers.

Also, at our summer competitions we often hire activities like bouncy castles for the children to enjoy aware from the judo mat and we ask parents to help supervise them.

Become a coach

If you have some Judo experience, have you thought about becoming a Judo coach? Julie is always grateful for some assistance on the Judo mat – ask her for details.
