BJA AFFILIATION

The British Judo Association is the internationally-recognised governing body for Judo in the UK up to international and Olympic level.

Hollesley Judo Club’s affiliation to the BJA means that our members gain extra benefits from being part of the UK-wide Judo community.

BJA magazine

Delivered to your door three or four times a year, the BJA’s Matside magazine reviews everything that’s happening in Judo in the UK.

Keep up-to-date on the exploits of our national squad players, and find out what’s going on in other clubs around the country.

Insurance

Through the British Judo Association, Hollesley Judo Club is covered by a group insurance scheme with public liability and professional indemnity cover up to £10,000,000.

The scheme also includes personal accident cover for players who hold a valid BJA licence.

Full details are available from the British Judo Association.

Gradings

As members of a club affiliated to the British Judo Association, our players may participate in the BJA grading schemes for Juniors and Seniors. Grades awarded by the BJA are recognised acoss the UK and internationally.

Younger players between the ages of 5 and 16 years can join in the BJA Junior grading scheme run at the club which offers incentives and progression through a structured programme of learning the Judo techniques.

Competitions

All Hollesley Judo Club members are automatically eligible to enter regular competitions at Junior and Senior level run by the BJA Eastern Area, as well as other regional and national events licensed by the BJA.

All competitions licensed by the BJA meet the same high standards of organisation and safety, with trained and accredited referees and competition officials in attendance.

Extra training

As well as your regular Judo sessions at Hollesley, there are opportunities for training with other BJA clubs in the Eastern Area (Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and North Essex). We also provide sessions at our satellite club in Saxamundham and at the Rock Barracks in Sutton Heath. Contact Julie Jolliffe for details.

These “Training Together” sessions are held several times a year, usually at The Breckland Leisure Centre, Thetford.

Guest coaches are invited to lead the sessions, and in the past these have ranged from current GB squad players to former World Champion and Olympic medallist Neil Adams.
